THE FAIR OPENS NEW PROSPECTS

On March 26-28, 2013 the 2nd International Abroad Fair organized by the International Educational Centre OPTIMA STUDY and Exhibition Company OPTIMA EXPO took place in Samara and Ulyanovsk.

The Fair attracted over 12 thousand visitors which proved the significance and relevance of this project. This year the event was attended by over 50 leading international educational institutions from various parts of the world: Canada, the USA, the UK, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, France, China and other countries. The leading educational institutions of the Volga federal district were also active indeed. The city of Ulyanovsk hosting such a large-scale international educational fair for the first time was represented by its major educational institutions like Ulyanovsk State University, Ulyanovsk State Teachers Training University, Ulyanovsk State Technical University. The press conference dedicated to the opening of the event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Samara region, the Department of Education of the Samara Administration, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Ulyanovsk region, and representatives of the participants.

A special guest of the Ulyanovsk Fair was Sergei Krasnyanskiy, ICEF Director for CIS. During the 1st International Fair “Education Abroad” Sergei Krasnyanskiy has already held a methodological seminar “International cooperation of universities. Export of educational services” covering the current issues of cooperation between the educational institutions of various countries and establishment of partner relations. This issue also attracted much interest in Ulyanovsk, where he initiated a lively discussion between the specialists of international departments and professors of universities invited to the event.

The highly topical business program of the Study Abroad Fair included methodical conferences and seminars like “Test-Taking strategies: Keys for Exam Success (EGE, GIA, Cambridge exams and IELTS)”, “International cooperation of the Universities. Academic mobility”, as well as presentations of the participants, e.g. On-line MBA of European University.

–– Education is one of the most important values of modern society, and school is the centre of spiritual, intellectual and social development and upbringing of an individual. The Study Abroad Fair defines a new development trend in our branch. We are open to the world and we open the world for ourselves. In the future we plan to participate more actively in implementing the programs of international training for the students in order to use their knowledge for the benefit of our region.

–– Communication in the field of education is one of the most stable and intensive directions of cooperation between various countries and nations. The Study Abroad Fair attended by representatives of the leading schools of the world serves as a guide to the world of teaching innovations, as a landmark for both young people and specialists interested in programs of international education and cultural exchange.

The growing interest to the project was proved by participation of the best foreign and Russian higher educational institutions with many years of history and teaching traditions, as well as the innovative Russian educational institutions working according to the programs of foreign partner schools with complete methodical support. Similar to the previous year, the entrance to the fair was free which emphasized the social orientation of the project, its openness and accessibility to the public. Each visitor had a unique opportunity to pass a free English language test.

One more good tradition was carried on by drawing of special prizes, including scholarships and grants of London School of Business and Finance (UK), Harbin Institute of Technology (China) and Oxford English Centre (Samara, Russia). More prizes to compete for included a one-year subscription for the magazine “INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION & LANGUAGES”, educational materials from Cambridge University Press, and various discounts for the services of the International Educational Centre OPTIMA STUDY. During the closing ceremony Pavel Antipov, General Director of OPTIMA STUDY Group of Companies, addressed all the guests and participants of the event to thank them for the interest to this project and added: “We really hope to see you again at our future events and we are proud to say that starting from 2014 the Study Abroad Fair will be held twice a year. The preparations for the March fairs in Samara and Togliatti and October fairs in Kazan and Naberezhnye Chelny are already well under way”.

COMMENTS OF THE VISITORS

The life of each individual has the events which influence his understanding of the world, open new prospects, help define the most important things and give a strong emotional impulse. The Study Abroad Fair became such an event for the pupils of our gymnasium. This was a unique opportunity to receive first-hand information about educational systems of European, Asian and American countries, to learn about modern universities and colleges, to sign up for the English language test.

–– The Study Abroad Fair means communicating face-to-face with Russian and foreign guests, getting acquainted with new interesting people, learning about a wide range of schools. I received the relevant information which helped me choose my future profession.
